Periodismo medioambiental. Tratamiento informativo del diario La Hora de la Provincia de Los Ríos

In the present case study, the informative treatment of environmental issues issued by the newspaper La Hora of the province of Los Ríos in the last quarter of 2020 was analyzed. The objective of which is to analyze the informative treatment and identify how this information complies with its purpose of informing and raising awareness in society in general. To obtain the results, the qualitative methodology was used, through descriptive, exploratory and diagnostic research, supported by the direct observation technique, through the observation sheet. Among the most relevant findings found in the study of this case, it was found that in this medium the environmental issue is not treated as such importance, because the few events of this nature are found within sections of society, local or international. Based on the results found, it is recommended to include in the study plan of a communication career, subjects related to this specialty, also to be executed by journalist colleges, talks and conferences to raise awareness and inform communicators of the great contribution to the fight to preserve and raise awareness on environmental issues through the correct treatment of these facts.
