要約:SUMMARY The present work was carried out with an analysis of the problem of the disease of the asphalt spot complex (P. maydis) in the corn crop (Zea mays). The information collected informs us about the importance, origin, taxonomy, morphology of the corn plant and the identification, incidence and severity of damage caused by the disease to the crop. Humidity and temperature play an important role in favoring the development of the asphalt spot due to its wide distribution and destructive power. The initial symptoms are small slightly raised black spots, which are distributed throughout the leaf blade, as the days pass the lesions join to form large necrotic areas, causing losses ranging from 30 to 100%. But if constant monitoring is carried out during the development of the corn crop, fungicide-based sprays can be used, making rotations to avoid the resistance of the disease and obtain an excellent production. Key words: Asphalt stain, incidence, severity, disease and production.
