Estudio de Factibilidad de VoIP en la Facultad de Administración, Finanzas e Informática

The institutional evaluation of universities and polytechnic schools carried out by the Council for Evaluation, Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Higher Education (CEAACES), aims to determine the degree of compliance with the quality standards defined in the current evaluation model. Accreditation is obligatory and necessary for an institution to belong to the Ecuadorian Higher Education System. Therefore, the Faculty of Administration Finance and Informatics of the Technical University of Babahoyo wishes to provide, improve and optimize resources because of this, the possibility of implement Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology. The Faculty of Administration Finance and Computing has a wired network to be able to offer the internet service to the students, teachers and administrators that work in said institution, being this one faculty that counts on a race dedicated to the engineering in systems, considers that it is necessary to research and apply knowledge on new technologies such as VoIP. The main objective of this case study is focused on the investigation of new existing software and hardware technologies, which make it possible to evaluate the technical feasibility for the implementation of VoIP telephony in the Faculty of Administration Finance and IT. One of the advantages that will be obtained when using the network for the transmission of the voice and data is undoubtedly the low cost of the communications, reason why the calls between the different departments will be of gratuitous way.
