Humedal Abras de Mantequilla como propuesta de integración al Sistema Nacional de Áreas Protegidas del Ecuador.

The research project focuses on the proposal to integrate the Abras de Mantequilla Wetland into the National System of Protected Areas of Ecuador, considering its relevance as an ecosystem of high ecological and tourist value. The diversity of species stands out, including some endemic ones such as howler monkeys, that inhabit this wetland. The research is based on the need to protect and conserve this natural space, which currently does not have the delimitation of an environmental protection system at the national level. A qualitative methodology is used that includes conducting interviews and surveys with various actors involved in the management and conservation of the wetland. It seeks to identify the factors that hinder the integration of the Abras de Mantequilla Wetland into the National System of Protected Areas, with the aim of proposing effective solutions to overcome these barriers and achieve its inclusion in the country's environmental protection system. The importance of understanding the perspectives and opinions of local communities, government authorities, environmental organizations and other relevant actors in relation to wetland conservation is recognized. The project seeks to generate a proposal for the integration of the Abras de Mantequilla Wetland into the National System of Protected Areas, validating its environmental importance and seeking the care, protection and conservation of the ecosystems and potentiating its development.
