| Summary: | HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) is a virus that attacks and destroys the CD4+ T cells of the immune system, weakening the body's ability to fight infections and diseases. Treatment with antiretroviral drugs (ART) can control HIV effectively, allowing people to live long and healthy lives. HIV can be transmitted to the baby during pregnancy, childbirth, or breastfeeding if precautions are not taken. The following case is a pregnancy of 38 weeks of gestation and exposure to the human immunodeficiency virus, in which the patient presented with a 2-day clinical condition characterized by contractile-type pain that begins at the level of the hypogastrium and radiates to both luminal regions. of mild intensity, in which the patient reports a history of PLWHA diagnosed 3 months ago with treatment, for which a segmental cesarean section is performed in the presence of the history. Without complications, a live female birth was obtained without congenital or physical alterations. Antiretroviral treatment was provided until confirmation of the infection. Given a favorable evolution in her full days of hospitalization, the specialist suggests hospital discharge, with outpatient treatment with control by an outpatient gynecology consultation and follow-up by the Comprehensive Care Unit for people with HIV to provide follow-up, social and psychological support. |
