| Résumé: | Adolescent pregnancy represents a significant public health challenge, particularly in developing countries such as Ecuador, where its prevalence severely impacts both young mothers and their children, perpetuating cycles of poverty and social inequality. This issue not only affects the physical and mental health of adolescents but also limits their educational and employment opportunities, exacerbating the vulnerability of this population. This study focuses on analyzing the impact of contraceptive methods on the reproductive health of multiparous adolescents under 18 years old attended at the 7 de Octubre Health Center in Cantón Quevedo during the period from March to August 2024. The general objective of the research is to determine the effect of contraception on this highly vulnerable population. The methodology employed was quantitative in nature, combining the use of structured surveys with the review of medical records to collect accurate data. The results indicated that 75% of the adolescents used some form of contraception, with condoms and implants being the most frequently utilized methods. However, 25% did not use any contraceptive methods, highlighting the urgent need to improve access to and education about family planning. It is concluded that it is essential to strengthen continuous education and monitoring strategies to ensure effective adherence to contraceptive methods, with the aim of reducing the incidence of unintended pregnancies in this adolescent population. |
