| Streszczenie: | This study investigates the relationship between family dysfunction and self-esteem in students at the Adolfo María Astudillo Educational Unit in Cantón Babahoyo. The research is based on the premise that the family plays a crucial role in the emotional and psychological development of young people, and that dysfunctional family dynamics can negatively affect their self-esteem. The theoretical framework of the research is based on Bowen's Family Systems Theory, which explains how family interactions can influence individuals' emotional development, and Coopersmith's Competence and Valuation Model, which defines self-esteem as a subjective evaluation of one's own worth based on personal and social experiences. For data collection, a quantitative approach with a correlational design will be used. The selected instruments include the Family Dysfunction Questionnaire (CDF), which will evaluate family dynamics and their degree of dysfunction, and the Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory, which will measure the students' self-esteem levels. It is anticipated that there will be a negative correlation between family dysfunction and self-esteem, indicating that students in more dysfunctional family environments tend to have lower self-esteem levels. This finding will underscore the need to implement psychosocial intervention programs in schools to support students from dysfunctional families. The results of this study will contribute to a better understanding of how family dynamics affect the emotional development of young people, and will provide a basis for developing effective intervention strategies that promote the emotional well-being and self-esteem of students. Ultimately, the aim is to create a more inclusive and supportive educational environment that fosters the integral development of all students, regardless of their family situation. |
