| Özet: | We present the case of a 32-year-old male patient, a merchant, from the city of Guayaquil, who entered the Hospital of Specialties Dr. Abel Gilbert Pontón in the area of internal medicine with clinical picture of 6 hours of evolution characterized by alteration of the sensory more stupor and recurrent tonic seizures clonic with presence of oral bleeding after convulsive crisis plus sphincter relaxation. The pathological clinical relationship led to the diagnosis of hepatic encephalopathy. Objective: To apply the nutritional care process, analyzing the case of the 32-year-old male patient diagnosed with hepatic encephalopathy in clinical practice. Methodology: The clinical case study was developed with a descriptive approach. The data were collected using anthropometric, biochemical, clinical and dietary methods. Results: Regarding nutritional status, an inadequate dietary intake was observed due to excess consumption of densely energetic foods, percentage of fat (26%) indicating risk of obesity, decreased muscle mass being between the 5th and 10th percentile, moderate cardiometabolic risk, pancytopenic, hyperlipidemia, hypoalbuminemia and hyperammonemia, moderate visceral protein malnutrition, moderate immune competence and mild catabolic component as evidenced in anthropometric indices, dietary methods and laboratory tests. Conclusion: The findings show that there is a significant relationship between psychosocial and nutritional behaviors with the development of hepatic encephalopathy that affected the metabolic - nutritional status of the patient. |
