Determinantes ambientales asociados a las infecciones respiratorias agudas en pacientes de 1 a 5 años que acuden al hospital general Martin Icaza, canton Babahoyo, provincia Los Rios, primer semestre 2017.

Acute respiratory infections (ARI) are defined as the set of communicable diseases of the respiratory tract that includes from the common cold to pneumonia. Acute respiratory infections (ARI) are the most frequent cause in pediatric consultations, the most vulnerable being children under 5 years of age. These are present throughout the year since there are multiple factors that produce such as environmental pollution, the type of climate among others. The objective of this research was to identify the environmental determinants associated with acute respiratory infections in patients aged 1 to 5 years who attend the General Hospital Martin Icaza, Babahoyo canton, Los Ríos province, first half of 2017. A retrospective descriptive study was performed to identify the environmental determinants associated with acute respiratory infections. For the data collection, the interview was used and a survey was conducted for the mothers of children aged 1 to 5 years attending General Martin Icaza hospital and as a tool, a questionnaire was drawn up in which the different variables under investigation, Our population was 317 and the sample was 177 mothers of children who suffered from ARI in the first half of 2017 who were chosen using the inclusion, exclusion and exit criteria. With this research, it was possible to determine that the children who suffered most from ARI were those aged 3 to 4 years, of rural residence, with low weight, low income.
