| 總結: | The purpose of this study was to determine the presence of Toxocara canis in dogs treated at the Dr. Marcos Oviedo Rodríguez Animal Health Center. Of the 40 cases studied, 100% were found to be negative, indicating a 0% prevalence. These results were obtained by analyzing fecal samples from dogs treated at the Dr. Marcos Oviedo Rodríguez Animal Health Center using the direct smear method. The absence of positive cases in the sample studied suggests that Toxocara canis is not highly prevalent in the canine population treated at the Dr. Marcos Oviedo Rodríguez Animal Health Center. The results of this study contrast with others conducted in different areas of the country, which reported significantly higher prevalences. The importance of this study lies in the need to understand the current status of toxocariasis in the canine population in order to implement appropriate control and prevention measures. It is recommended that similar studies be conducted in other regions of the country to gain a broader view of the toxocariasis situation in the Ecuadorian canine population. Furthermore, it is suggested that pet owners be informed and trained about the risks associated with this parasitic disease in order to reduce the prevalence of Toxocara canis in the canine population. |
