LED technology has taken its most recent step with the white light LED’s that are the ones that can replace the light bulbs, mainly because they consume less electrical energy which focuses on environmental care. This project gives a historical review of led technology. Its operating principle and what are its advantages when applied to any human need and its disadvantages, which in comparison with the advantages are minimal, are also presented here. |

Its operating principle and what are its advantages when applied to any human need and its disadvantages, which in comparison with the advantages are minimal, are also presented here.La tecnología LED se está poniendo hoy en día a flote, por lo que en la actualidad se pretende sustituir las lámparas tradicionales (incandescentes u fluorescentes) por la razón de su mayor consumo de potencia, haciendo que los LED’s (diodo emisor de luz) pasen a un primer plano ya que su consumo de potencia es aproximado a un 40% menos que las lámparas tradicionales, los LED’s o diodos de emisión de luz siempre se han utilizado en el mundo de la tecnología como indicadores lumínicos, ya que son dispositivos semiconductores que emiten luz cuando por el circula una corriente eléctrica. La tecnología LED ha dado su paso más reciente con los LED’s de luz blanca que son los que pueden sustituir a las bombillas de luz, principalmente porque consumen menos energía eléctrica la cual se enfoca al cuidado del medio ambiente. Este proyecto da una reseña histórica sobre la tecnología led.
