description Diabetes Mellitus is a severe disease that can be considered chronic if proper treatment is not applied once it has been diagnosed; in Ecuador, the affected population presents a rate of excessive growth. According to the survey applied by ENSANUT, the prevalence of this disease in the population between 10 and 60 years of age is 1.7%. While according to the results of the studies of the population between 11 and 60 years old carried out by the INEC, the prevalence of this disease is 2%, which indicates that 3 out of 20 Ecuadorians have this pathology.
