Through this study we are going to know the risk factors that will lead to pneumonia associated with mechanical ventilation, and in turn we will know the measures that must be taken to avoid this type of complication.El presente caso clínico trata de una paciente de 50 años de edad de sexo femenino diagnosticada con VIH y Neumonía asociada a la ventilación mecánica, complicación que se presentó luego del ingreso de la paciente a la unidad de cuidados intensivos. La Neumonía asociada a la ventilación mecánica es una de las primeras causas de mortalidad en pacientes que se encuentran bajo ventilación mecánica ya sea esta por traqueotomía o tubo endotraqueal, esta complicación se presenta porque no hay una eliminación voluntaria de secreciones acumuladas en la vía aérea.
