Summary:In the following investigation, it is proposed to determine the way in which problem-based learning influences the learning processes in the third-year children of the Juan E. Verdesoto educational unit of the Babahoyo canton 2022. In addition to identifying the specific characteristics that the problem-based learning and the characteristics that show the learning processes in the children of this institution, in addition to establishing the level of relationship that exists between problem-based learning and how they affect the learning processes in the students. A type of explanatory and descriptive research with a mixed approach will be used and its research design is non-experimental with a cross section, as a sample we have 30 third-year basic students, and the techniques used are Observation and the survey, the instrument to be used in this research will be the questionnaire and to carry out the analysis of data obtained from the survey, tabulations were made using Excel and the IBM SPSS statistical program. As a result we have that the teaching and learning strategies do maintain a close relationship with the pedagogical training of teachers, in addition there is a wide range of methodological strategies such as PBL, which is characterized by allowing active student participation. In addition, it is concluded that the PBL is an innovative methodology since it uses problems of daily life as a means to encourage the learning of concepts, it also allows to encourage the development of critical thinking, problem solving and social skills.
