| Sažetak: | Prostatic hyperplasia (an enlarged prostate gland) is a recurring condition that occurs as men advance in age, an enlarged prostate causes bothersome urinary symptoms. Urinary tract infection usually occurs in any part of the urinary system such as: the kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra. Infections occur in the lower urinary tract, which is the bladder and urethra. According to the WHO, cases of prostatic hyperplasia in Ecuador rank seventh in terms of morbidity, thus affecting 50% of men over 65 years of age. While the incidence of UTI in the elderly is 10% to 50%. A clinical case of a 90-year-old male patient of Ecuadorian nationality is presented who arrives accompanied by his youngest daughter to the Los Trigales health center in the city of Guaranda-Ecuador, with signs of frequency, dysuria, nocturia, in addition to that there is drip. Through the physician's evaluation, the diagnosis of benign prostatic hyperplasia was reached. The patient was treated immediately after the doctor's assessment, who sent tests to rule out possible complications. After performing tests, a urinary tract infection was detected, for which he was sent the appropriate medications.
