| Yhteenveto: | In the Quevedo Canton there is little information related to the prevalence of Toxoplasma gondii, it is for this purpose that the main objective of this work was to determine the prevalence in women who were treated at the Sagrada Familia Clinic in the parish of San Carlos. This research was carried out with the quantitative descriptive method, where the study describes the prevalence of Toxoplasma gondii by collecting quantitative data from analyzes carried out by the immunofluorescence technique. Of all the 40 cases sampled, 39 of them showed positive cases in both the tests carried out using IgG and IgM, which indicates a high prevalence of the disease in pregnant women treated at the Sagrada Familia clinic. Specifically, around 92.5% of women tested positive for IgG immunoglobulin, and 5% tested positive for IgM. We must highlight that when a patient tests positive for IgG immunoglobulin, it means that the disease was present in the past; and when it tests positive for IgM immunoglobulin, it tells us that the disease is present at that moment. Based on the results obtained from the survey, we can conclude that women who are treated at the Sagrada Familia Clinic of the San Carlos Parish, Cantón Quevedo, are less exposed to the risk factors associated with contracting the infection. |
