Identificación del agente causante de daño del tallo en el cultivo de papa (Solanum tuberosum L) en el sector de Monte Verde, cantón Montufar, provincia del Carchi

SUMMARY The work was carried out in the Monteverde sector, San José parish, Montufar canton, Carchi province. It is located at an altitude of 2,902 meters above sea level. The zone presents an annual precipitation of 808.3 mm, average temperature of 12 º C and a relative humidity of 80%, its clay loam soil with Ph of 6. The zone is producing of potato and grass, the purpose was the identification of the agent accusing the damage of the stems of the potato plant, in the crops of the community. From the information collected it is determined that since 2014 damage to potato captives was observed, causing yellowing and death of plants. In the study of this paracito larvae were found in the stems of potato plants in the field and also in stored tubers for seed sprouting. In order to identify the pest, larvae were monitored in captivity; After observing the whole process, the adult can be identified, recognizing it as the Pea Stem Borer, known as (Melanagromyza sp), which is the same that causes damage to legume crops since a long time ago, which usually causes considerable damage in the dry seasons, but that since 2014 has been increasingly aggressive in potato crops.
