Streszczenie:Introduction.- Acute respiratory infections are diseases that affect from the ears, nose, throat to the lungs, they are generally eliminated, that is, they do not require antibiotics to cure them and they do not usually last more than 15 days, they are mostly caused by They can also be bacteria or parasites, which are transmitted from person to person through the droplets of saliva that we expel when we cough or sneeze. Objective.- To determine the risk factors that affect acute respiratory infections in children under 5 years of age in the Ventura municipality of the Babahoyo canton of the province of Los Ríos during the period from September 2017 to February 2018 to avoid complications and reduce their morbidity. Methodology.- This project will be based on the quantitative modality because it consists of the collection and organization of quantitative data on determined variables, and together with the research instruments we obtained real data since we were in interaction with the sector mothers and through their answers helped to know the causes of risk factors in acute respiratory infections in children under 5 years. Result.- The results of the proposal would be reflected in the increase of knowledge of the residents of the La Ventura citadel, since many families do not have enough knowledge about acute respiratory infections. Conclusions.-It was found that due to the lack of information on risk factors and how they affect the manifestation of acute respiratory infections, this has become a worrisome situation since currently respiratory diseases caused by risk factors
