description The excessive use of social networks in children is a problem that afflicts an entire society, due to its serious psychological consequences. Among the networks most used by minors are YouTube, TikTok and Facebook, which present open and poorly controlled content, in addition to little control on the part of parents, in restricting the use of said social networks not suitable for them. . Among the psychological conditions that can occur due to addiction to this type of digital platforms are stress, anxiety, problems within the cognitive area, emotional problems and even lack of interpersonal relationships or social isolation, which triggers negative symptoms towards the physical and mental health of children. For this reason, it was considered to carry out an investigative study in which the possible effects of addiction to social networks in minors are highlighted, so in the first instance the Social Media Disorder Scale (SMD) Test was applied, in order to To determine the uncontrolled use of digital platforms in children, in addition to this, there was also the participation of parents and teachers of the educational institution to whom a survey and a structured interview were applied, to learn more about the study group. These tools were performed on 84 children, 84 parents and 3 teachers from the María Auxiliadora Private School in the Babahoyo canton. This study worked under the type of descriptive research with a non-experimental design encompassing qualitative and quantitative methods, which helped the analysis of the results presented.

This study worked under the type of descriptive research with a non-experimental design encompassing qualitative and quantitative methods, which helped the analysis of the results presented. BabahoyoMSC.
