Περίληψη:The presented clinical case is about a 48-year-old patient who was referred to optometry for post-surgical follow-up of pterygium in her left eye. Pterygium is an abnormal growth of conjunctival tissue over the cornea of the eye. Surgery to remove pterygium can cause temporary increased sensitivity to light due to inflammation and scarring that occurs in the eye after the operation. The patient reported sensitivity to all sources of light, or photophobia, a week after her recovery. As a treatment to improve her sensitivity, the use of blue-blocking photochromic lenses was prescribed, as it provides protection to the eye globe. Blue-blocking photochromic lenses are a good option to reduce photophobia as they can adapt to different lighting conditions and reduce the amount of light that reaches the eye. Additionally, blue-blocking technology can help reduce exposure to blue light, which may have long-term harmful effects on ocular health. It is important to note that follow-up and compliance with treatment are essential to achieve satisfactory results in the patient's visual health. Multiple medical appointments are required to evaluate the case's evolution and adjust treatment as necessary. After completing this process, satisfactory results were achieved, allowing for the improvement of the patient's visual health.
