Resumo:The Ministry of Public Health states that the most common disease in pregnancy is urinary tract infections, which can cause complications in pregnant women, this is due to various causes and lack of knowledge that pregnant women have about what is an IVU, which can cause in the gestation period, given a very high percentage of complications that can end with maternal and infant death. Pregnancy is considered a state of immunocompromise because physiological changes such as urinary stasis and bladder-ureteral reflux occur that increase the risk of urinary tract infection. Urinary tract infection has clinical variants depending on the location of the microorganism. The most frequent microorganism for this infection is E. coli. Currently, screening for asymptomatic bacteriuria is performed during prenatal controls and detects 40 to 70% of cases. Clinical guidelines determine that antibiotic treatment decreases the risk of preterm birth and low birth weight. The MAIS recommends optimizing and providing first level care to pregnant women. A prevalence of 31.96% of urinary tract infection in pregnant women was reported that compared to the scientific literature, this prevalence is high in relation to developed countries and the same in countries whose customs and culture are similar to Ecuador. Within the antibiotic scheme used in the Health Center for the treatment of urinary tract infection in pregnant women, the use of Nitrofurantoin, Cephalexin, Amoxicillin + Clavulanic acid and Ciprofloxacin was found.
