| Izvleček: | Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is a disease caused by an increase in blood glucose levels and that affects millions of people around the world. Due to this public health problem, the present clinical case deals with a 55-year-old female patient with T2DM, who goes to a nutritional consultation to improve her lifestyle and current state of health, where she reports a family history of a diabetic father and hypertensive mother, and symptoms such as dizziness, weakness, polydipsia, among others. Reasons why, the objective of the case is to determine the nutritional care process in a 55-year-old female patient with a diagnosis of type II diabetes mellitus. To achieve this purpose, anthropometric, biochemical, clinical and dietary assessments were carried out through a 24-hour reminder. The results showed high blood glucose, type 1 obesity, inadequate BMI, high uric nitrogen and creatinine, and inadequate eating habits. Therefore, the patient received a meal plan according to her needs based on a 1700 kcal/day, low-fat, low-sodium diet. , with complex carbohydrates high in fiber and divided into 5 meal times a day. The nutritional intervention had favorable results because it improved the altered biochemical values and the identified nutritional status. It should be noted that the results were evident after two months of the prescribed treatment. |
