| Samenvatting: | Introduction. - In recent years, respiratory physiotherapy has developed exponentially due to the high demand of professionals specialized in this type of pharmacological adjuvant treatments for all kinds of respiratory diseases, especially in those related to patients in pre and post surgery with the possibility of complications that extend the stay in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), increasing health care and health costs. Objectives.- To evaluate the benefits of respiratory physiotherapy in pre and post-surgery in children under 5 years of age. Methodology.- The modality used was qualitative-prospective, with inductivo-deductivo and analytical-synthetic methods in a sample of 76 clinical histories and 21 professionals of Respiratory Therapy. Results.- The male sex predominated with 67.11%, and the protocols to regulate its actions are not applied with the professional therapist, and training is required in the management of respiratory physiotherapy techniques according to 100% of the respondents. , considering that this technique is important in the clinical evolution of the patient. Conclusions.- Pulmonary complications are evident in children under 3 to 5 years old. Great concern, about the lack of communication in the hospital, regarding instructions and protocols for their performance, as well as the lack of professional incentives with training in physiotherapy techniques to improve the quality of care hospital and benefit the health of patients. |
