'Carpal tunnel syndrome' is a medical condition that occurs due to a combination of nerve branches from the lateral and middle cords of the brachial plexus at the level of the wrist as they descend through the carpal. It is related to repetitive movements of the hands and wrists, as well as work-related factors that result in occupational neuropathy. According to the anatomopathological findings, the condition of the connective tissue is altered by repetitive use of the wrist during a work activity. The normal functioning of the median nerve of the hands is influenced by anatomical structures such as ligaments, muscles, and tendons. The diagnosis can be classified as mild, moderate, or severe and the doctor suggests surgery if necessary. Based on these notions, this article explores carpal tunnel syndrome. By examining various literatures associated with the topic, the use of an essential scientific approach was achieved that would lead to the establishment of a variety of relevant sources and the application of documentary research criteria. |
