Sažetak:Introduction. - This research project is aimed at analyzing the benefits of mechanical ventilation with high frequency oscillatory mode in newborns (RN), in the pediatric area of Roberto Gilbert E. Hospital in the city of Guayaquil during the May period -September 2019. Faced with pulmonary disorders, they represent the most common diagnosis in children admitted to neonatal care units. Objective.- To evaluate the benefit of high frequency oscillatory ventilation for treatment of respiratory failure in neonates at Roberto Gilbert Elizalde Hospital Period May-September 2019. Methodology. - The method used was the inductive-deductive, with a non-experimental type qualitative-quantitative modality in a population of 208 medical records whose sample was 135 and 41 health staff members. Results. - There was a predominance of the male sex with 58.56% over the female of 41.48%. Regarding the weight of the infants according to the data sheet, the weight within the range of 1,500 to 2,499 grams was the highest percentage with 61.48% or 83 involved. The percentage of respiratory complications in neonates suffering from respiratory failure was 39, 26%. Conclusions. - There is a great concern in the doctors participating in this research that the technique of oscillatory high frequency ventilation is accepted in the various hospitals of our country and the therapists are constantly and periodically trained in the application of this ventilation modality assisted.
