Description
Summary:The present clinical case involves a 7-year-old female patient who presents refractive amblyopia associated with hyperopia. The main characteristic of amblyopia is decreased visual acuity in one eye caused by suppression. It affects 3% of the child population. The main objective of this case was: to identify the degree of refractive amblyopia present in the 7-year-old female patient. Despite having been diagnosed at 5 years old, the patient was unable to implement an optometric care protocol. The examinations performed allowed corrective treatment to be provided through the implementation of aerial lenses with measurement and a monthly follow-up checkup to verify the evolution. The long-term consequences can lead to complications in the health of patients. Through this case, the importance of optometric check-ups and visual health care is highlighted, especially when problems have been detected at an early age.
