According to the criteria of the DSM-5 and ICD-10 diagnostic manuals.La ausencia parental es un factor que se relaciona de forma significativa en el estado emocional, de los hijos que experimentan estas ausencias; el desarrollo de estudio del caso tiene como objetivo principal analizar qué efecto tiene la ausencia parental en el estado emocional de un joven de 20 años de edad, para el abordaje pertinente, la recolección de información principal se lleva a cabo con una exploración bibliográfica de ambas variables como: ausencia parental y salud mental, además consta con un caso real que fue diagnosticado del mismo modo fue intervenido por cada área afectada con técnicas basadas en la terapia cognitiva conductual; el proceso psicoterapéutico que se desarrolló en el paciente tuvo como resultados reducción de los síntomas que presentaba. El diagnostico obtenido en el paciente es una de las patologías nombrada por la población, pero pocos saben identificar los niveles de gravedad, mismo que padeció el joven de 20 años el cual, es el trastorno depresivo recurrente con episodio actual moderado 296.32 - F33.1.
