Streszczenie:Introduction. Parasitic infections represent one of infectious diseases prevalence and spread worldwide, affecting mainly children. They are caused by protozoa and helminths. General objective. Determine the risk factors that are related to intestinal parasitic infections in children attending the educational unit Celeste Carlier sources in the parish San Cristobal canton Quevedo of Los Rios province in the period from May to September 2019. Methodology. A study of field, exploratory, descriptive, transversal, qualitative-quantitative approach. A sampling was used intentional non-probability according to the criteria of inclusion and exclusion, being constituted the sample by 73 school children. Applied techniques of non-structured and direct scientific observation as well as surveys; executed a study showed. Results. The sample analyzed, 83, 56 % of infants were parasitized. Evidenced according to the study showed, that there was a higher prevalence of children poliparasitados (73, 77 %). The majority of infections were caused by protozoa as Blastocystis hominis (34, 26 %), followed by Giardia lamblia (25, 0 %). Regarding helminths, the most prominent were Enterobius vermicularis (29,17 %) and Ascaris lumbricoides (20.83 %). Conclusions. Water consumption without boiling in high percentage of children, the lack of a proper hand washing before eating and after defecating next to the presence of domestic animals in the interior of the houses, were decisive for the acquisition of intestinal parasitosis in schoolchildren.
