Тойм:Sarcopenia is a disorder of loss of muscle mass, loss of strength and loss of skeletal muscle function in a progressive and generalized manner. The objective of this project was to determine the relationship between sarcopenia and physical activity in older adults attending the Barreiro Health Center in the province of Los Ríos during the academic period October 2024 - May 2025. Methodology: this was a deductive, quantitative, cross-sectional, non-experimental field research. The total population was 85 elderly patients and the sample consisted of 70 participants. Results: The type of sarcopenia that stood out most was severe and moderate sarcopenia with 42.9% and 37.1% respectively, and only 10% did not present sarcopenia. The physical activity performed by the adults was lower than recommended with 68.6%, and only 31.4% performed physical activity within the recommended range. When relating the variables in severe sarcopenia 73.3% (N=22) of the participants did not perform the recommended activity compared to 6.7% of those who did perform recommended physical activity, it is also interesting that in participants without sarcopenia 85.7% performed physical activity less than recommended compared to 14.3% who performed physical activity within the recommendations. Conclusions: In the relationship of sarcopenia and physical activity no significant relationship was found according to the chi-square test p=0.307 rejecting the hypothesis raised, however, it could be observed that most of the participants with sarcopenia (75%) did not perform recommended physical activity.
