সংক্ষিপ্ত:Education today is directed towards the integral development of students in order to place them at the forefront in the different scenarios in which it operates; For this reason, the purpose of this research work is to analyze how reading techniques favor the development of critical thinking in the students of the Melvin Jones Unit, intending to contribute to their development; will focus on the quality of feasible projects, proposing and implementing theoretical principles that can be implemented in the medium term, through field and documentary research that allowed information to be collected through surveys of 30 students whose results allowed us to meet background the research problem and thus it was concluded that students are limited in their ability to have a prospectus for a text, since they failed to capture the essential elements of reading techniques within it, such as the message, the main idea or secondary ideas, meaning of words or phrases, among other aspects; In the same way, in the development of critical thinking, it is evident that students do not express their points of view, when arguing or when giving their conclusions, references to a topic under study, clearly reflecting the little work that is done in terms of these two themes described.
