description The following study refers to a 65 year old patient who was diagnosed with HIV/AIDS and visual alteration, to patients with this disease is regular to find ocular pathologies caused by opportunistic infections provided by the same disease and also with some specific medications that are ingested, the opportunistic infection is the leading cause of blindness in patients with HIV and visual alterations, It is important to carry out the study of this clinical case, with the objective of finding important information of the visual alterations and to identify them, apart from carrying out the clinical follow-up and the treatment of the patient with HIV, with the purpose of deepening and improving the visual quality of the patient identifying the cause of the alterations. Deductive and inductive procedures were handled, as well as retrospective and bibliographic data of the patient, finding as a result that she suffered from visual alteration due to HIV which caused the appearance of hard micro exudates, micro aneurysms and intraretinal hemorrhages scattered in her four quadrants, finding as a result that she began to lose visual acuity due to lack of proper handling which caused a lot of discomfort as blurred vision, burning of the eyes, it is synthesized that the visual alteration by HIV that the patient shows is a retinopathy and a refractive problem such as farsightedness and presbyopia typical of age.
