Fournier sufría de enfermedades sistémicas subyacentes, siendo las más comunes: diabetes y alcoholismo crónico (Egas, 2019). Aplicar el proceso de atención de enfermería en paciente con diagnostico gangrena Fournier disminuyendo así el riesgo de infección y morbimortalidad. La aplicación del proceso de enfermería a pacientes con gangrena de Fournier asegura la recuperación y mejora de la calidad de salud del paciente y es reconocida como una directriz central para la provisión de métodos de atención de enfermería utilizando el lenguaje estándar internacional NANDA, NOC, NIC.
