The evaluation of the firewalls was carried out using a quantitative method in an environment with simulated network traffic and metrics such as bandwidth, jitter and network packet loss rate were used, so the aforementioned method and indicators are widely used. to evaluate the performance of firewalls Free software firewalls can be a useful alternative when it comes to network security, so in this case study four Linux distributions designed specifically to provide this service were analyzed, which have as a common feature and operate through filter modules.
