description Uterine massage has been highlighted as an effective technique in obstetrics to prevent uterine atony, a serious complication during childbirth that can lead to postpartum hemorrhage. At the Liborio Panchana Sotomayor General Hospital, a study was carried out to evaluate the attitudes and practices related to uterine massage as a preventive measure of this complication. The study focused on understanding the perceptions and behaviors of gynecology service staff in relation to uterine massage. It will be controlled that the application of massages varied between professionals, influenced by their level of education and training. The observational-inductive research recorded 186 cases of postpartum women with a diagnosis of uterine atony during the study period from November 2023 to April 2024. A higher incidence was found in women over 30 years of age and in vaginal deliveries. Interviews with health personnel revealed that obstetricians complied with the protocol for the use of uterine massage in 100% of cases. The most common frequency of application was every 15 minutes for two hours, especially in cases of uterine atony in postpartum women. It was concluded that all staff in the gynecology area agreed that uterine massage should be part of the hospital's standard protocol. These findings support the importance of training and implementation of clear protocols to improve obstetric practice and prevent postpartum complications for the benefit of maternal health.
