| Sammanfattning: | Diabetes is an independent factor to develop peripheral arterial disease, among other macro and microvascular complications. In our country, the prevalence of diabetes mellitus and peripheral arterial disease is very high. We present the case of a diabetic woman of long evolution, poorly controlled who has several health risk factors (bad eating habits, sedentary life). She was referred to the emergency department for tachycardia, polydipsia, polyphagia, vomiting, diarrhea, irritability, colic-like pain in the colon, had plasma glucose of 406 milligrams per deciliter. Patient for his bad eating habits had a body mass index that represented a slight overweight which can be a reference to health complications since the complications of this disease are usually serious and sometimes irreversible. Patients with this disease tend to have little sensitivity to cold, heat or pain, which is why patients with this disease usually injure their feet and that is where the diabetic foot presents itself. It is very important to inform the patient about the care of the feet and the importance of maintaining an active and healthy life. We must also emphasize the patients in pregnancy who may also have this sick because some of these women do not usually carry out the doctor's instructions or simply do not comply with a prenatal control during their weeks of gestation. |
