Sumario:The yellow pitahaya (Selenicereus megalanthus) is a crop of great importance in Ecuador, due to its high export potential. It is a tropical fruit with a great acceptance in the national and international market for its excellent flavor, appearance, quality and nutraceutical properties. To establish a commercial pitahaya plantation, it is important to verify various factors such as soil conditions, fertility, presence of insect pests and diseases, climatic conditions and select the varieties of commercial interest that are best suited to the area. The information obtained was carried out through the technique of analysis, synthesis and summary, with the purpose of informing the reader about the agronomic behavior of the yellow pitahaya crop (Selenicereus megalanthus) in Ecuador. Based on the above, it was determined that the yellow pitahaya crop is highly appreciated for its high commercial value, flavor and fruit quality. The yellow pitahaya is a very popular commercial plantation because of its high profitability, due to its high productivity, when a proper agronomic management of the crop is carried out. The agronomic management of the pitahaya crop is the fundamental basis for increasing the productivity of the crop, giving a higher value to the fruit. The main pitahaya-producing provinces are: Morona Santiago (70%) of national production and yield of 7.60 t/ha, Pichincha (10%) of production and yield of 7.59 t/ha and Santa Elena (8%) of production and yield of 8.10 t/ha.
