总结: | Abiotic environmental factors are non-living elements that are found naturally in the environment; in the agricultural population these factors mainly include UV rays produced by the sun, pollution, dust, wind, among others. On the other hand, pterygium is an abnormal growth of tissue in the conjunctiva that little by little extends towards the central area, covering the cornea; Although pterygium has an unknown origin, its development is associated with constant exposure to the aforementioned factors. The main objective of this research project is to determine the influence of abiotic environmental factors on the development of pterygium in farmers in the Barreiro Nuevo commune, Babahoyo - Los Ríos, period October 2023 - May 2024. For this study, descriptive, observational, explanatory and incomplete inductive methodology was used; As a study modality, the quantitative, field and documentary modality was used; The type of research used was non-experimental, correlational, transversal and prospective longitudinal. As a result, farmers belonging to the Barreiro Nuevo commune have a high prevalence of cases of pterygium, with 94% of them presenting this pathology, mostly the male population. In addition, it was identified that abiotic environmental factors greatly favored its development, especially the sun's UV rays. The constant exposure to abiotic environmental factors is directly related to the development of pterygium in farmers in the Barreiro Nuevo commune, the main one being UV rays. It is essential to provide information and raise awareness of the importance of using visual protection methods against these factors. |
