الملخص:Pastures and forages have great relevance for herbivorous animals since they serve for food, providing proteins, carbohydrates among other important nutrients for the development and growth of the animal. In such a way that it allows to produce food according to its purpose, whether it be milk or good quality meat and satisfy the demands of the populations. There are many problems in terms of pasture performance, due to the poor management of the producer, to obtain optimal results it is important to know and analyze the management of the main grass forage species in the Ecuadorian tropics such as savoy grass, Bachiaria, Gramalote, star grass , janeiro grass, from the moment of the selection of the land, the type of soil, the pH, that is, the edaphic and climatic conditions of the site to be sown, as well as the preparation of the land, the quality of the seed, the optimal moment for carry out the sowing and the sowing system either sexual by seeds or asexual through the use of stolons, an adequate fertilization, for which a soil analysis must be carried out, to know the nutritional requirement that it needs and that the plant can acquire it. Irrigation is also essential so that there is a good yield of forage grasses and that the animal can ingest these grasses through a grazing system. It is important to know the growth curve and the grazing time to determine the necessary resting time for the new foliage of the grasses to be produced
