SUMMARY The present investigation was carried out on the grounds of the experimental farm "Palmar", located at km 10,5 km from the Babahoyo - Montalvo highway; with geographic coordinates of 79º32' of west longitude and 01º49' of south latitude, and UTM coordinates 669140- 9801354 according to the PSAD 56 ellipsoid and an altitude of 8 masl. The objective was to evaluate the agronomic behavior of the crystalline rice variety (Oryza sativa L.) Iniap FL-1480, subjected to three planting distances, in the Babahoyo area. Three rice varieties were used as sowing material, INIAP FL-1480 Cristalino, INIAP 14 and INIAP 15, and they were evaluated in three different planting distances 0,30 x 0,20, 0,25 x 0,30 and 0,30 x 0,30. The experimental design used was split plots, with 3 treatments (rice varieties), 3 sub-treatments (planting distancing) and 3 replications. The mean comparisons were made with the Tukey test at 95% probability. In the development of the crop, cultural activities were carried out for an optimal growth of the plants such as fertilization, irrigation, weed control, phytosanitary control and harvesting. The variables height of plant, number of tillers per square meter, panicles per square meter, panicle length, number of grains per panicles, weight of thousand grains, days to flowering, grain-straw ratio, days to physiological maturation were evaluated of grain, yield and economic analysis. The results obtained in the investigation determined that the crystalline Iniap Fl-1480 variety with a distance of 0.25 x 0.30, allowed to obtain the highest quantity of panicles / m², greater weight of 1000 grains, greater number of grains per panicle and it influenced the obtaining of a greater length of panicles. Early flowering and ripening was observed in the interactions of the INIAP 14 variety with the three planting distances proposed. The crystalline INIAP FL-1480 interacted with the planting distance 0.25 x 0.30 registered the highest yield and the greatest benefit with 7753.30 kg / ha and $ 1213.42 respectively.
