Impacto económico de la mastitis en hatos bovinos del Cantón Baba provincia de Los Ríos

The present research work was carried out in 44 productive units located in the Baba canton, province of Los Ríos with the objective of determining the economic losses and incidence due to bovine mastitis, the sample size was 305 cows, for tabulation for data, the chi square method and degree of freedom were used. As a percentage of incidence of subclinical and clinical mastitis, we have the Baba canton as one of the sectors with the highest percentage belonging to 22.5% clinical and 26.92% to subclinical, having a total of 49.42% presence of this disease, the remaining 50.68% It belongs to the farms around the Baba canton where the study was carried out. As a prevalence for positive cases, we have 75.74% and for negative cases 24.26%, which is equivalent to 100% of the total sample, referring to economic losses we use García's method on which we based the study of the positive sampled cases which belong to clinical and subclinical mastitis with a number of 231 cows in which a percentage of 14.25% was obtained which is equivalent to an economic loss of $127.05
