The results revealed that factors such as age, previous traumatic knee injuries, genetic predisposition and intense or repetitive physical activity are significantly associated with the development and severity of the disease in this population. Based on these findings, the implementation of prevention and early management programs is suggested, as well as the creation of multidisciplinary interventions to effectively address knee osteoarthritis. These measures could improve the quality of life and reduce the disability associated with this degenerative condition that affects a significant part of the population, particularly in the aging stage. |

En este contexto, la investigación tuvo como objetivo determinar un abordaje fisioterapéutico en la artrosis de rodilla en pacientes de 55 a 75 años del área de Rehabilitación Física del Hospital General Martín Icaza del Cantón Babahoyo, entre noviembre de 2023 y abril de 2024. Se trató de un estudio cuantitativo, transversal, exploratorio y descriptivo que incluyó a 70 pacientes con diagnóstico de artrosis de rodilla, de los cuales 25 fueron seleccionados como muestra, bajo criterios de inclusión y exclusión. Los resultados revelaron que factores como la edad, lesiones previas traumáticas en la rodilla, predisposición genética y actividad física intensa o repetitiva, están asociados significativamente con el desarrollo y la severidad de la enfermedad en esta población. En base a estos hallazgos, se sugiere la implementación de programas de prevención y manejo temprano, así como la creación de intervenciones multidisciplinarias para abordar de manera efectiva la artrosis de rodilla.
