| Summary: | The present clinical case informs us about the importance of assessing vision from a very young age since this way eye pathologies can be diagnosed in time and the necessary treatment can be offered. In this case, a 5-year-old patient was taken to the clinic due to decreased night vision associated with a corrected congenital degenerative myopia. The patient's parents report that when the corrective lenses were placed, her vision improved but 6 months later they began to notice that the patient collided with the buildings of the home, especially at night. After taking the respective anamnesis, it was discovered that the patient acquired degenerative myopia from her maternal grandfather; the visual evaluations of the patient were carried out and she was referred to the ophthalmologist for a second opinion on the case. After going to the appointment with the ophthalmologist, they return to the office with the results of the visual exams they performed. Throwing as diagnosis a stationary congenital night blindness which is a set of non-progressive retinal disorders. With the only treatment of correcting the graduation in the lenses and placing in the same selective filters for low vision. |
