Shrnutí:Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are one of the number one infectious complications of pregnancy and are responsible for many cases of both maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality, mainly in developing countries. Women in a state of pregnancy and in general have an anatomical, physiological and hormonal predisposition to develop urinary tract infections, since they experience hormonal and functional changes in their various reproductive organs; additionally, the location of the urethral meatus is exposed to pathogenic bacteria that can easily enter it. In the present analysis of a clinical case, a 20-week pregnant woman with a diagnosis of urinary tract infection was admitted to the IESS Quevedo General Hospital, due to presenting symptoms of the infection and altered values in laboratory tests, where the primary objective of the nursing staff was to apply the Nursing Care Process (PAE), taking into account the risk factors, clinical history, symptoms and altered functional patterns in the patient.
