| Čoahkkáigeassu: | Gastrointestinal infections are one of the main causes of medical consultation and death in Ecuador and in the world. It is a serious Public Health problem, where children under 5 years old are usually the most affected. The objective of this research is to determine the relationship between Nursing actions and the behavior of gastrointestinal infections in children under two years of age in the 1st Sector of December of the Babahoyo Canton in the Province of Los Ríos in the first semester of 2018. The inductive-deductive method was taken into account, with a qualitative-quantitative approach, it was a cross-sectional exploratory and descriptive field study. An intentional non-probabilistic sampling was carried out, consisting of 78 children from six months to two years. Scientific observation techniques and surveys were applied to collect the information. The distribution by biological sex was 48.7% female and 51.3% male. Of the total number of children, 79.5% presented gastrointestinal infections. A predominance of children aged between 1 and 2 years was found for 38.5%. 66.7% of mothers or representatives are totally unaware of the origin, consequences and prevention of these infections. Likewise, 67.9% never received educational talks about the prevention of these infections by the nursing staff of the Lucha Obrera health center. The predominant risk factors were: environmental pollution, inadequate elimination of excreta, low economic and educational level, non-compliance with the rotavirus vaccination scheme, poor breastfeeding. |
