| Summary: | Pulmonary fibrosis is a disease of the lower respiratory tract that is characterized by abnormal scarring of the lung tissues. Due to this abnormality, the passage of oxygen into the bloodstream is reduced. The most common clinical manifestations of pulmonary fibrosis are: insidious onset, progressive exertional dyspnea, persistent dry cough, crackling rales, acropaquia, chronic respiratory failure and hypoxemia-hypercapnia. For the diagnosis, the clinical history and complementary examinations of the patient are analysed, and imaging studies such as chest X-rays and computerised axial tomography are carried out. This clinical case is based on the knowledge of an adequate treatment of the 65 year old patient with pulmonary fibrosis, besides analyzing the diagnostic tests for a correct treatment and taking into account the infectious exacerbations that patients with pulmonary fibrosis can suffer and identifying the risk factors that affect this pathology. This case was investigated to understand the risk factors that affect pulmonary fibrosis and its lethality in the population, which is a very important issue in the health field. |
