Summary:Human beings are capable of adapting to almost any situation, even the most adverse. Disease is an example of this. However, there are diseases that have been labeled by society, examples of which are cancer and HIV/AIDS., receiving the news of suffering from any of them, represents for the patient like receiving a death sentence. However, the person with this disease goes through a series of stages and psychosocial changes that forces them to adapt to these changes and live with everything that the disease entails. The present study aims to evaluate and learn more about the incidences, complications and reactions of people who live with the HIV/AIDS disease, in addition to knowing their questions and feelings upon hearing the news, in order to determine how they experienced the coping process, all from the perspective of qualitative methodology and using phenomenology as a tool, to understand their experiences of living with the disease.
