Summary:This research is denomination in developing literacy skills and cognitive skills in students "Zoila Ugarte de Landivar" School, with the element of language as the main vehicle by which thought is transmitted, and allows satisfy the human need to communicate with others. Among the problems observed is that they have not successfully completed the integration of visual, auditory and motor functions, for which the problem has been determined indicating how affects reading and writing skills development and cognitive skills of students, in order to study the teaching of literacy, and the scope of the development of skills and cognitive skills.
