Čoahkkáigeassu:SUMMARY The ignorance of phytosanitary management in pepper cultivation generates large economic losses and affects crop production. This is why this research was conducted in order to identify the main pests and diseases of the Santa Rosa neighborhood, Urcuquí canton, as it is one of the main economic activity in the area. The methodology that was used to carry out the research topic was through a survey of 10 farmers in the sector with specific questions, addressed to the subject of study. It was determined that the most severe disease within the pepper crop is Botrytis cinerea followed by a set of fungi that cause root rot known as Damping-off, followed by early blight, powdery mildew and Bacterial spot. In addition, in terms of pests within the culture it was determined that Bactericera cockerelli better known as jumping aphid, the insect that generates more damage within the crop, followed by Trips, the red spider in lower whitefly incidence and the Meloidogyne incognita. So, it is recommended to control pests and diseases of the pepper crop taking into account the rotation of active ingredients for disease control, to avoid losses in production and economic.
