description Nearly all children contract a respiratory virus at least once before the age of 2. For most healthy children, it's like a common cold. However, some children become severely ill from acute respiratory infections, causing significant distress and concern for parents and family members. OBJECTIVE To determine the risk factors associated with the behavior of acute respiratory infections in infants admitted to the General Hospital Martín Icaza, April-August 2024. METHODOLOGY This cross-sectional study with a quantitative and qualitative approach allowed for the description and explanation of the variables presented in this study. Likewise, the information is detailed in a well-founded manner thanks to the documentary method. On the other hand, field research with an inductive methodology allowed for the collection of vital information to answer the research question. A sample of 13 infants admitted between April and August 2024 who presented problems in the immune system according to reports analyzed in the hospital's statistics area was worked with. Additionally, interviews and surveys were conducted with healthcare personnel regarding the procedures carried out in these cases. RESULTS The survey results highlighted several acute respiratory infections that are recurrent in infants who attended the Hospital, such as the syncytial virus and rhinovirus, representing 38% of respiratory infections, while 13% represent influenza viruses and others present in the environment, generated by various risk factors such as breastfeeding, the environmental setting, or sociodemographic situations. CONCLUSIONS It has been concluded that the environment in which infants are found is undoubtedly harmful if proper care is not maintained.

CONCLUSIONS It has been concluded that the environment in which infants are found is undoubtedly harmful if proper care is not maintained.
