Description
Résumé:Cognitive decline represents a decline in cognitive function that may be the result of the physiological processes of aging or other factors. The purpose of this research is the physiotherapy application through the Perfetti Method in older adults with mild cognitive impairment at the Gerontological Center of the City of Babahoyo. This study has a mixed, qualitative-quantitative, descriptive and field approach. The assessment instruments used were: the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) to determine the cognitive status of older adults and the Barthel Index to evaluate functional capacity when performing basic activities of daily living (ABVD). A population sample of 15 older adults is obtained, aged between 60 and 90 years, who have a low educational level. The results of the Barthel Index represent an average of 95 points out of 100, reflecting little dependence when performing the ABDL. The initial assessment of the MoCA Test determines that geriatric patients present mild cognitive impairment (DCL) and moderate cognitive impairment (DCM). A basic cognitive exercise program of the Perfetti Method is developed, consisting of ten sessions of physiotherapy intervention, lasting approximately 30 minutes. Finally, the final MoCA Test is applied again to the patients, where the results indicated DCN and DCL. This means that healthy aging can be maintained by performing learning tasks, including motor behavior and memory.
